Volkswagen e-up! has a synchronous electric motor, a peak producing 82 horsepower (62 kW) and 210 Nm of torque, and a single-stage automatic transmission that delivers the entire power reserve to the front axle wheels. Electricity to the motor comes from a 150-kilogram set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 18.7 kilowatt-hours, providing "long-range" in 160 km on "full tanks". To saturate the battery by 80% using fast charging stations, it takes only 30 minutes, while this process takes about 5 hours from a normal household network.
